Black velvet - by nancy Zeltsman

This intermediate/advanced, quasi-lullaby Nancy composed in 2004 is dedicated to her black Lab, Mochi. In a tonal, slightly-modern language including mixed meters, it lasts about 5:30. Dogs can be opinionated about music, but Mochi contentedly napped in the same room while the piece was composed. The faster part is inspired by the times his paws would move in his sleep — perhaps dreaming of happily running in a field. Recorded on Zeltsman's album, Sweet Song.
