Marimolin, active from 1985-1996, was known for their engaging performances and tireless commissioning efforts. The body of music for violin and marimba they fostered became a role model, and confirmed the marimba's viability and acceptance in concert chamber music.
In their 11 years together, they performed across the U.S. and Europe--including concerts at the Tanglewood Music Festival, Ravinia Festival, and Huddersfield Festival (England). They recorded three CDs, premiered 79 pieces, raised over $68,000 to commission new works, and sponsored an international composition contest for eight years that attracted nearly 200 entries.
